The main library room is the focal point of our library. In the main room, you will find a children’s area filled with board books, picture books, easy readers and first chapter books. We also have shelves of puzzle for small children and tables with easy crafts and coloring pages.
There is also some puppets and Duplo blocks for the kids to play with. There are Legos and a large Lego table located in the middle of the room as well.
The junior readers section houses a wide variety of books of various genres. This area contains fiction, non-fiction, biography and reference books.
In the center of the main library room along the west wall you will find our Young Adult books and graphic novels. The remainder of the center of this room houses our 6 public access computers, adult and children’s DVDs, booths and tables to sit at for reading, research or other activities.
At the south end of the main room, you will find shelves of adult fiction, non-fiction, large print, biography, reference, Nebraska authors, genealogy books, puzzles, games and more.
The Czech Heritage Room holds a large selection of books and displays on our Czech heritage, books written in Czech and books about the Czech Republic. The room holds Czech kroj calendars, embroidery patterns, textile and costume books that help with the research and kroj design for specific areas of the Czech Republic.
There are display cases full of various Czech items such as a mannequin with a Moravian costume, a woman’s wool jacket from the Chod region, jewelry, dolls, Easter eggs and old maps of Czechoslovakia. It is worth a few minutes of your time to “Czech” this room out.
The library has a very nice brick patio with tables, chairs and benches. Everyone is welcome to use our patio to access our Wifi, read, or just relax on a nice day.
The Stastny Meeting Room has a small kitchen area with a counter, sink and refrigerator. There is a large wall mounted computer/T.V. screen that people can use along with their laptops for presentations.
The room is used weekly for things like, Mahjong, Tai Chi, Yoga and coffee hour but is also available for groups and organizations to use during or after hours by appointment. There are four long conference tables and many chairs that can be set up if needed. It is where most of the library programs are held.
Portraits of the Stastny and Dvoracek families adorn the wall in the Stastny Meeting Room. They are the donors who made the construction of the building and operations of the library possible.
The back yard is filled with lovely landscaping. There is a gazebo that can be used for quite time or a visit with a friend. For the children there are instruments for them to show their musical side as well as a story book walk that goes down the west side of the building and continues a path through the back yard.
